Is your pet your BEST FRIEND? If so you need to understand that you are not alone .The truth is this becoming very popular all around the world. To put it simply, pets are awesome! Whether they’re begging for your food, barking at their leash, engaging in kitty antics to make you laugh hysterically, or trying to convince you to take them on a walk, or simply greeting you when you get home, pets do all of the little things that put smiles on faces around the world.

Some of the more endearing reasons why pets are quickly becoming people’s  best friends is for the most part pets have short term memories. One of the crappier aspects of human friends is that, generally speaking, they remember all of the times you’ve wronged them and will hold it against you for the rest of their lives. Pets, on the other hand, are far more forgiving. That means they will forgive quicker than any human and still love you and want to be around you after the offense has passed.

Also they won’t forget the connection they share with you, and, if you are good to them. You & your love will leave a lasting impact on them that they’ll never shake off. This sentiment is usually credited to our canine friends but it is true for cats too. Talk about loyalty, pets will never abandon you. They will never discard your love and choose another over you. Your pet will always have your back… and YES this includes cats as well, I have heard stories of cats attacking and chasing burglars from a house to protect their family.

Pets are not discriminating about your looks, income, sex, sexuality, where you live etc. all they want is to be loved and to be close to you. Our pets are sensitive to our emotional state of mind and will do their best to comfort you when needed. Based on the tone of your voice and your body language, your pet will do its darnedest to emulate your current state of mind. When you’re sad or heartbroken, they’ll look at you with big doe eyes. It is scientifically proven our pets can sense when we are in distress and will initiate snuggling to comfort you.

Sometimes even when you’re angry, the fur will rise on their backs and they’ll start barking and growling at inanimate objects. Whereas humans might not respond to your emotional upswings and downswings in a way that you’d might not prefer, pets will always be there for you whether you’re thrilled, depressed, or anywhere in between.

Who wants to eat alone? Sure it’s nice sometimes, but even as an introvert I’ll admit to liking a nice dinner with other people (only if I enjoy their company of course). Well, fear not, because if you have a pet you’ll always have company for dinner. Of course, they’ll be sitting by your knee, panting in your face, meowing across the room asking for your food, but it’s company all the same.

Pets that are besties never leave you hanging, what I mean is have you ever made plans with a human friend, only to find out that they canceled at the last minute? Well, no need to worry about that when you have a pet. They don’t know how to use phones, as far as I know, so there’s no reason to fear them calling up the neighbor’s poodle to see if they want to hit up some local bars, abandoning you to your TV or a party, PETS never flake on you.  Whatever the case may be a lonesome microwave dinner. They’re there for you, and you alone!

Also pets know how to live! Meaning they enjoy life as it comes and never take too seriously. They always know how to make us laugh and out us in a better mood. We cam always count on them to lift our spirits and put us in a good mood. All they want in return is YOU, to be with you whatever you’re doing.

Of course I’m biased. To be honest I prefer pets to people most of the time, I always have. Thank goodness I have found I am not alone, statistics show all around the world animal lovers like me are on the rise. Don’t get me wrong I’m not anti-human, but my loyalty belongs with my furry companions and I have no shame around it.

The only thing is I wished they lived longer… sigh. My heart has been broken more times than I care to count by loosing a furry family member. But a mentor once told me to look at it from a different perspective. All PETS come into our lives for a season and they being so very selfless and intelligent know and understand if they were to live as long as we do, the other  PETS waiting to be loved wouldn’t have an opportunity to love and be loved.

This in a small way helped me heal and move on to love another furry family member  and I hope it helps you too. Our hearts are capable of so much love, maybe it would be too much for one PET and has to be shared and spread around. Remember your next best friend, or the love of your life is waiting for you in our local shelters.

Until next time remember PETS RULE!
